After spending over 20 years in Corporate America, negotiating tech contracts with fortune 100 companies, earning over $1.4 billion in sales with clients in many different industries (yes, that is "B" for billion!), implementing processes to streamline and cut costs, and how NOT to treat a team, Janice "Jumped" out of the crazy corporate life and took her business acumen to the streets.
She started her sales journey at Radio Shack as a sales associate and moved into management at the age of 19 where she turned stores around, increase sales, and won several top-performing awards.
After the retail burnout, she moved into straight commission sales selling cell phones when the plans were paying by the minute and phones were as big and heavy as a brick. Staying in the technology space, she moved from selling phones to pagers and then onto semiconductors.
You can say she is the "hunter" type of salesperson. Her success was made at a Global Semiconductor Distributor growing accounts from zero revenue to a book of business of over $1.4B in sales. She earned three seats in Presidents Club and ranked in the top 5% in the nation.
She "jumped" out of the crazy corporate life and used her business acumen to launch her first company - Romp n Stomp. During that 15-year journey, Janice became bi-vocational and consulted in the family entertainment industry where she helped hire, train, and coach salespeople and spoke at conferences around the US on how to increase sales through guest experience.
During that time, she developed a love for helping salespeople and coach business owners to grow their businesses. In 2019, she took that experience and launched Get in Gear Business Solutions. She became certified in DISC and delivered programs using EOS to our clients. In 2021, she launched a complimenting business, The Biz Hive, a boutique-style business center offering, support services assisting busy professionals to outsource tasks on their to-do lists, renting co-share workspace, meeting space, virtual mailboxes, and education classes.
With the overwhelming response to the launch of The Biz Hive, we decided in June 2022 to combine both companies into The Biz Hive. In October 2022, we launched our second location in Wadsworth.
Everyone is in sales in some capacity.
Sales is not a job, it's a journey of helping people figure out their pain points and solving their problems with your products and services.
The most valuable lessons learned over the years:
1.) Have a plan and work that plan! Be ready to move to Plan B if needed!
2.) Build a strong team that has talents you do not have - regardless of their age!
3.) Trust until there is a reason not to!
4.) Protect your time! Don't let distractions steal your time from actions that will drive results!
5.) Only one touch to a task! If you are touching tasks in multiple steps, you are wasting time and money!
